Flux : It is a compound which is used in metallurgical process to extract gangue(unnecessary elements in ore) material during the extraction of element from ore. It must only react with gangue not with our element that we are extracting

Acidic flux are those flux which comes from substances like Lewis acid such as SiO2, H3PO4, HCl etc.

Basic fluxes like lime (CaO), magnesium oxide (MgO) are used to remove acidic gangue such as SiO2.
